Reasons for Tooth Decay

Teeth cavities occurs often in children.  Therefore; their teeth must be properly cared for.  Diet plays an important role in the health of children’s teeth. The child must be brought to the doctor when all of his or her baby teeth appear, which may be around the age of two. A holistic dentist is usually a better choice, as he or she will offer less invasive treatments. l Children are usually more comfortable with a holistic dentists, as they use natural techniques for treating cavities in baby teeth.

 

In childhood, two sets of teeth appear: baby teeth and permanent teeth.  These two sets are equally important for the child, as they help the child with speech, chewing and the formation of facial features. Baby teeth help in the growth of the muscle system for chewing. The baby teeth do not appear until the child is around six months of age.  Infants are given pureed foods and breast milk since they do not have many teeth. The food the child eats directly affects the health of the child’s teeth. l The health of the child’s teeth is directly affected by the type of foods or milk the child consumes.  Parents should keep their child’s teeth and gums clean; however, this alone will not prevent teeth decay.

A child may have 20 teeth in the mouth by the age of two years. Parents should use natural cleaning products for the child’s teeth instead of commercial toothpastes. l All-natural and organic tooth soaps are better for the child’s teeth than commercially available toothpastes. Parents must provide their child with a diet rich in the right types of minerals and nutrients to cure cavities. l The most important factor in preventing tooth cavity in children is by monitoring the types of foods they eat. Parents should avoid giving their child sugary or processed foods, as well as white flour and grain products. l White flour, grain products, sugar and foods that are processed are bad for the health of the child’s teeth.  Child’s permanent teeth appear after the baby teeth; therefore baby teeth must also be properly cared for.

Teeth alignment is also a major problem in children. An improper diet can result in the jaws and bones of the face not forming correctly. l Misaligned teeth can be caused by a poor diet that lacks certain vitamins and minerals. Mothers should consume a well-balanced, healthy diet and breastfeed their child to prevent misaligned teeth. l Breastfeeding can prevent misaligned teeth in children. Breastfeeding helps the jaw form properly and is rich in nutrients, but it is important for the mother to eat healthy a diet. l Breast milk contains the right amount of nutrients for a baby and breastfeeding helps the baby develop proper jaw structure; however, it is essential that a mother eats a good diet so her milk is as healthy as possible.
